Cindy McLeish was elected as the Member for Seymour at the 2010 Victorian State election. Following the 2014 election, Cindy was elected as the inaugural member for the new electoral district of Eildon. Following the 2018 election, Cindy was appointed Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and Shadow Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Regional Cities. In 2020, Cindy became Shadow Minister for Tourism, Major Events and Sport, replacing her Shadow Minister for Education role. In 2022, Cindy became the Shadow Assistant Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Economic Development,  Shadow Minister for Regional Recovery and Shadow Minister for Government Services as well as  Shadow Minister for Sport and Shadow Minister for Tourism. 
 
Cindy grew up on a farm running cattle and sheep in Yea and continues to farm in the district on land that has belonged to her family for generations. She attended Melbourne University where she completed a Bachelor of Science and a Diploma of Education. She also completed a Graduate Diploma in counselling and registered as a psychologist. In 2001, Cindy completed an MBA from Melbourne Business School, which she studied part-time, whilst juggling work and a family.
 
Prior to entering parliament, Cindy was a senior consultant for a leading consultancy firm working in the area of organisational effectiveness and leadership capability. Her clients included companies ranging from family-owned businesses, government departments, national and global based firms. Cindy was also the CEO of Women’s Golf Victoria for a number of years. In her early working life, she was also secondary school maths and science teacher and continues a passion for ensuring young people can reach their potential through a strong education.
 
Outside of work, Cindy has dedicated a lot of time to her family and to sport. She and her family have been actively involved in sport including one of her great loves, hockey. Cindy supports the Geelong Cats in the AFL and is a keen follower of cricket which has led to her becoming the Co-Chair of the Victorian Parliamentary Friends of Cricket. Cindy understands the important role sport plays in rural communities and actively supports a number of sporting clubs across the Eildon electorate.
