Yarra Glen Primary School gains weather protection with new outdoor court covers
Students at Yarra Glen Primary School are set to gain brand new overhead sports court covers under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government.
Yarra Glen Primary School has almost 180 students yet has no outdoor covered areas for sports and recreational activities, assemblies, or concerts. This has severely limited the outdoor learning opportunities for this growing school, especially during summer and winter months.
The multi-purpose undercover area will create a hub for assemblies, outdoor teaching space, out of school hours care program and sports use. The local community will have access to the shelter for purposes such as the school fair, visiting kinder, sport training, personal trainers, Men’s Shed and playgroups.
State Liberal Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish, said she was excited to announce $400,000 investment to construct new overhead court covers at Yarra Glen Primary School.
“Yarra Glen Primary School students and teachers will greatly benefit from the purpose-built shelter, allowing them to teach, learn and play comfortably outdoors.”
“The school population is growing with families from the suburbs moving out. It is important that the school has accommodating facilities.”
“This development will improve Yarra Glen township by supporting the academic, social and emotional needs of an entire suburb and surrounding areas.”
