Straight answers needed on Labor’s plan for new mandates
Community members deserve straight answers over the Andrews Labor Government plans to introduce new COVID mandates.
State Liberal Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish said the community deserve certainty and clarity over health measures so local communities can recover and rebuild.
Ms McLeish said, “The Andrews Labor Government must come clean and provide straight answers to what advice is being received from the health department and what new mandates and restrictions are being considered.”
This comes after the Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas confirmed the Department of Health was actively modelling new COVID restrictions including mandatory indoor face-masks and work from home orders, stating:
“The public health team are looking at modelling and they’re consulting with their colleagues and various ideas are floated but no ideas have been taken.”
“The pandemic declaration allows me to make that decision and I haven’t yet made it.”
“I’m receiving advice not just from the health team but from my colleagues about the next steps under the pandemic declaration.”
Ms McLeish continues, “People are understandably nervous. Victorians cannot move forward with the threat of more lockdowns and mandates hanging over our heads. The focus needs to be on recovering and rebuilding Victoria, not going backwards.”
“Only a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will scrap Daniel Andrews lockdown laws and take a common-sense approach to COVID management that gives communities confidence.”
A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will manage COVID in a safe, sensible way, letting people get on with their lives and getting Victoria back on track, we will;
1. Repeal the Pandemic Declaration.
2. Guarantee no more lockdowns.
3. Rule out new mask and vaccine mandates.
4. Not impose new work from home orders.
