National Volunteer Week 2021

This week we celebrate National Volunteer Week and say thank you to the more than 6 million volunteers in Australia and 2.3 million Victorians who give their time in the service of others.

State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish recognises and deeply appreciates the selfless services by volunteers in the community.

Ms McLeish said, “I want to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers in the community for the work they do including our emergency services volunteers in the CFA and SES who work tirelessly to keep the community safe, those who run our sporting clubs, Landcare groups and volunteers who were especially present during the COVID-19 difficulties we faced last year.”

Volunteering provides a strong connection to community and has been proven to increase people’s happiness and provide a sense of self-worth.

“We rely on volunteers to keep our communities active, to assist and protect the vulnerable and to protect life and property in emergency situations. Without volunteers, communities across Victoria, especially in rural areas, would not function,” Ms McLeish concludes.
