McLeish tables Route 684 e-petition in Parliament

The e-petition to save bus service Route 684 Eildon to Southern Cross Station via Healesville has been tabled in parliament.

State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish established the e-petition to give commuters a chance to help keep Route 684 operating as is, rather than terminating at Chirnside Park Shopping Centre as Public Transport Victoria (PTV) have planned.

Ms McLeish said, “I had been contacted by many locals in the Murrindindi Shire and from Healesville who rely on this bus service to get into the city, to medical appointments and to see their families.”

“Elderly passengers, those with a disability and regular commuters do not want to hop off the coach to catch the train at Lilydale Station. They want a direct bus line into the city and home.”

Ms McLeish submitted the e-petition in Parliament House with a total of 497 signatures, after the end date of 10 May 2022.

“We hope the e-petition will make the Minister sit up and listen to community opinion and keep the bus line running,” Ms McLeish concludes.

As a result of Ms McLeish raising community concerns about the lack of in person consultation provided to those living in Murrindindi Shire by PTV, PTV organised an information session in Alexandra. The session took place on 20 April 2021.
