Emergency services have a win at Sugarloaf Saddle Cathedral Range

State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish took up the fight to install new signs and markers on walking tracks at Sugarloaf Saddle Cathedral Range, supporting concerns from local emergency services.

Ms McLeish is pleased to say the government have taken up the suggestion and installed over 100 new signs to improve risk information and provide clear walking track markers.

64 signs have been installed to increase awareness of the risks surrounding the tracks, with another 50 walking track markers placed along the Razorback and Ridge Tracks.

Ms McLeish said, “These extra signs will improve hiking safety and awareness of conditions and prevent walkers becoming lost in the difficult terrain, which was a common occurrence.”

“This will then in turn relieve difficulties and hardships on emergency services volunteers who have done an amazing job in rescue efforts in the past, aiding stranded or injured walkers.”

Directional markers and difficulty ratings of the walks will also be displayed to aid walkers.

“We are surrounded by many hiking trails and outdoor leisure’s. We need to ensure people are safe and informed while making the most of our great region,” Ms McLeish concludes.
