Liberals to clean up Maroondah Dam
Looking after our parks and maintaining our open spaces is vital for today and into the future.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $500,000 towards restoring Maroondah Reservoir Park.
Maroondah Reservoir Park (known locally as the Maroondah Dam) has long been a popular location for Healesville residents and visitors to the area to enjoy the outdoors and the scenic views.
The funding announced will go towards repairing the toilet and kiosk facilities, clean-up of the park, rehabilitating roads and the car park.
Daniel Andrews and Labor have failed to invest in maintenance of the park’s facilities including the once beautiful gardens which are now infested with weeds.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to caring for and investing in open spaces, because once they are gone, they are gone forever.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Environment, Nick Wakeling:
“When it comes to maintaining our public parks, Daniel Andrews has lost control. Maroondah Dam, like many parks in the region, is suffering under Labor’s neglect and refusal to maintain our environmental assets.
We know how important Maroondah Dam is to the Healesville community. That’s why we will get on with the jobs of cleaning it up so everyone can continue to enjoy its beauty.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish:
“The Maroondah Dam was once the flagship tourist destination in Healesville. Visitors flocked to the area to enjoy the wonderful grounds and picnic area.
We will clean up Labor’s mess and get on with the job of restoring Maroondah Dam to its former glory so all Yarra Valley locals can continue to take pride in this special place.”
