Murrindindi left off the state budget map - again

State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP has slammed the Andrews Labor Government’s State Budget for failing to deliver any new infrastructure spending in the Murrindindi Shire.

“Daniel Andrews’ city centric government has completely ignored new projects in Murrindindi Shire. The Premier should take his ears off the tram tracks and come out to our region and listen to what local residents need,” Ms McLeish said.

Ms McLeish said that whilst state taxes on Murrindindi residents are increasing, funds raised are being spent in metropolitan Melbourne.

“This is a government that is robbing Murrindindi residents and businesses to fund projects in the city which have suffered cost blowouts to the tune of $25 million.”

“Under Daniel Andrews, land tax is up 77 per cent - and he is making it worse with a move to annual revaluations, meaning land tax will go up every year instead of every second year.”

“Stamp duty (on property transfers) is up 60 per cent, making the dream of owning your own home even harder, whilst motor vehicle registration is up 20 per cent,” Ms McLeish said.

“Once again Murrindindi receives nothing from Labor. Regional Victoria has been handed yet another raw deal from the city-centric Andrews Government,” Ms McLeish concluded.
