Still waiting for upgrade to Alexandra intersection
State Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP has followed up calls to upgrade the intersection at Downey and Grant Streets in the heart of Alexandra.
Speaking in the Victorian Parliament Ms McLeish asked Minister for Roads and Road Safety Luke Donnellan what progress had been made on upgrading the intersection.
“I am informed by many people in the community that there has been no evidence of any work being done or any consultation,” Ms McLeish said.
Ms McLeish said that when she called on the government to fix the intersection in May this year, the Minister said action would be taken.
“I was advised at the time that VicRoads had commenced working with key stakeholders to determine the appropriate treatment for this intersection and would consult with the local community and industry in the coming months.”
“Unfortunately there has been no evidence of this taking place.”
“Alexandra locals have been concerned about the safety of this intersection for many years. The Government must listen to their concerns and take action to have them addressed,” Ms McLeish said.
Under Parliament’s rules the Minister has 30 days to respond to Ms McLeish’s request.
