State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP is calling on local residents to be extra vigilant with their household costs following reports that more customers are having their power supply switched off.
“Daniel Andrews’ reckless policy to shut down the Hazelwood Power Station has made energy prices unaffordable for more Victorians,” Ms McLeish said.
According to the Essential Services Commission’s latest report, some Victorians will be forced to pay an extra $357 on their energy bills this year.
The soaring price of energy has led to 12,718 Victorian households being disconnected from an essential service, 2,000 more compared to the March quarter.
“Under Daniel Andrews, Victorians have reached breaking point because of skyrocketing cost of living pressures,” Ms McLeish said.
“Under Daniel Andrews, the cost of living and cost of doing business in Victoria is going up every day. On top of soaring electricity bills, Victorians will start paying for three new taxes this month despite the Premier’s promise that his government would introduce no new taxes,” Ms McLeish concluded.
