Construction kicks-off at Yea High School

State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP is excited to see construction of Yea High School’s new arts and technology centre begin this week.

Attending today’s sod turning ceremony, Ms McLeish said she was very proud to have been able to secure the project’s funding in 2014.

“As a former student at Yea High School I was especially proud to have secured $1.39 million as a member of the former Coalition Government for this project,” Ms McLeish said.

“Modern, vibrant learning environments are an important part of the learning process, that’s why I am a strong advocate for the importance of a good education for country students,” Ms McLeish said.

The $1.39 million redevelopment includes refurbishment of the woodwork, metal work and plastics technology area, construction of a new art and visual communication building as well as a new music room and performance area, and an upgrade of the main classroom wing, including an IT computer room and a staff kitchenette. The works will be undertaken by Bowden Corporation.

Construction is expected to be completed in October/November 2017.
