Regional Victoria misses out in Dan’s infrastructure report
State Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish MP has slammed Infrastructure Victoria’s report which fails to identify infrastructure projects and opportunities for rural and regional Victoria.
“Daniel Andrews’ handpicked infrastructure advisors have failed to identify opportunities for our region and the rest of country Victoria,” Ms McLeish said.
Out of 134 recommendations to the Andrews Labor government, only 11 recommendations directly impacted rural and regional Victoria.
“That means out of a report focussing on the future of our state, only 7.5 per cent of the report looks at what is needed in our regions. This once again shows Daniel Andrews’ city centric approach to running Victoria,” Ms McLeish said.
Ms McLeish said the Eildon electorate has great capacity to expand opportunities in industries such as tourism and agriculture.
“We can provide jobs and support our communities by planning for the infrastructure our region needs. Sadly Infrastructure Victoria’s report misses the mark listing no infrastructure project in our region as a priority.”
Daniel Andrews is a city-centric Premier who runs a city-centric Government, and his handpicked infrastructure advisers appear to have followed his lead, prioritising metro Melbourne ahead of our regions.
Ms McLeish concluded saying, “Victoria needs a statewide population plan, and we need a statewide infrastructure plan that recognises the needs of our regional communities.”
